A delegation of specialists led by Professor Xia Qian from Renji Hospital in Shanghai, China, has visited the Republican Specialized Scientific and Practical Medical Center of Surgery named after Academician V. Vakhidov to implement a joint liver transplantation program.

On the first day of the visit, Uzbek and Chinese specialists jointly examined patients and related donors and discussed their clinical cases. They also inspected the readiness of operating rooms, medical equipment, and necessary consumables, and agreed on the schedule for the planned surgical procedures.

Three liver transplantations involving living related donors are scheduled for October 11–13. The program also includes the planned introduction of a technique for laparoscopic resection of part of a donor’s liver, which will be performed for the first time in Uzbekistan.

Throughout the week, surgeons from the Center will work side by side with their Chinese colleagues, participating jointly in surgical procedures, patient care, clinical discussions, and professional knowledge and experience exchange.

The main objectives of this cooperation are to introduce advanced surgical technologies, enhance the professional skills of local specialists, and further develop the field of transplantation medicine in Uzbekistan.
