Republican Specialized Scientific and Practical Medical Center of Surgery named after Academician V. Vakhidov RSSPMCS named after Academician V. Vakhidov is a leading multidisciplinary medical and scientific institution of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The main areas of scientific and medical activities are heart and vascular surgery, including reconstructive surgeries; lung and mediastinal surgery, esophagus and stomach surgery, abdominal surgery, liver surgery, biliary tract and pancreas surgery, reconstructive, plastic and aesthetic surgery using microvascular technology, endoscopic surgery, X-ray endovascular surgery and a rapidly developing area - transplantology. The Surgery Center is currently the leading institution in the country that deals with issues of transplantation from a living related donor.

The Surgery Center is a follower of the scientific traditions of advanced surgical schools, a conductor of the latest achievements of world scientific and technological progress in the medical practice of Uzbekistan.
In the RSCS, thanks to its powerful scientific and practical potential, close cooperation with many countries of the world, the most advanced and highly effective methods of diagnosis and treatment are developed, implemented and successfully applied.

From the first days of independence, fundamental changes in all spheres of life in the country began. At the same time, public health protection has been and remains one of the priority areas of state activity. A serious incentive for the development of the center was the Decree of the First President of the Republic of Uzbekistan No. UP-3214 dated February 26, 2003 "On measures for further reforming the health care system", according to which the Center received the status of the Republican Specialized Center of Surgery named after Academician V. Vakhidov.

As a result of the implementation of a set of measures provided for by the Decree, the quality of conservative, diagnostic and surgical care for patients has improved. Strengthening the material and technical base, the use of modern diagnostic and therapeutic equipment made it possible to expand the range of surgical interventions performed, introduce new high-tech diagnostic and treatment methods.

I would especially like to note the achievements in the field of cardiovascular surgery. Experience has been accumulated in performing the most modern operations for acquired, congenital heart defects and ischemic heart disease. In addition to open heart surgeries, the Center performs X-ray endovascular interventions.
